In 1968 three Native Sapulpans met to discuss the organization of a historical society to preserve the history of our city. From that humble beginning, our Society has grown both numerically, financially and in vision. In the beginning there were no funds, no artifacts and no home. But soon these obstacles were overcome by the warm reception given to the new organization by local citizens.

Our historical museum is dedicated to showcasing the history of Sapulpa from Indian Territory days down to the present. Our area of Oklahoma was originally part of lands given to the Creek (Muscogee) tribe after the Indian Removal Act of 1830 was signed.

For those traveling through northeast Oklahoma and those living nearby, you are cordially invited to visit us. A warm welcome is awaiting you. We are anxious to tell you our story.
